STEP BY STEP FROM SCHOOL TO CITY FAIR

Instructions for navigating the 2022 *virtual* New Haven Science Fair project registration process.

Read below or download a copy of this information here.

Step 1 - PreK-8 Schools Request Project Allocations

by Wednesday, March 9

  • Download, complete, and return this Google doc to Richard Therrien (NHPS Science Supervisor) to request project allocations for your school: https://tinyurl.com/NHSF-school-form

  • Gr. 9-12 do not need to complete this step as we get few high school project submissions each year

Step 2 - Official Project Allocations Announced

Monday, March 14

  • Schools receive official allocations (i.e., # of project slots for the City Fair per school) from Richard Therrien

Step 3 - SRC Project Review Submission

by Friday, March 25

Step 4 - School Science Fairs

by Thursday, April 14

  • Schools make decisions together to decide which projects advance to City Fair

Step 5 - Project Registration via Google Survey

Monday, March 14 - Thursday, April 14

  • Richard Therrien will communicate which projects may advance to the City Fair and tell you the following information (to be used when registering on zFairs): Project ID # and Project Category

Step 6 - zFairs Project Upload Period

Monday, May 2 - Wednesday, May 11 at 5:00pm

(no changes to uploaded project materials may be made by students/teachers after May 11 at 5:00pm)

  • Required materials to be uploaded to the zFairs judging platform:

    • Lab Notebook

    • Presentation (eg, PowerPoint or Google Slides format)

    • Research Paper (for Grades 5-12 only)

  • Student/class username and passwords are created and sent to teachers from Richard Therrien and through an automated email from zFairs. If you need them sent again, email newhavensciencefair@gmail.com.

  • Who is responsible for uploading project materials into zFairs?

    • For PreK-8, teachers register students and upload project materials

    • For Gr. 9-12, students can register themselves and upload project materials, but teachers must give pre-approval of final project materials and also review them once uploaded on zFairs

  • IMPORTANT: only PDF materials may be uploaded to zFairs, so all materials must be downloaded/exported as PDFs before uploading to zFairs

Step 7 - New Haven Science Fair (i.e., the City Fair)

Tuesday, May 18, 10:00a-11:15am

  • Students interviewed by judges via zFairs platform [Google Chrome is the best web browser to use!]
